One story, repeated accurately
Brand and messaging turns an agreed position into the words and visual identity the company uses everywhere. For a technical audience the test is not whether the message is memorable, but whether a scientist can repeat it to a colleague without introducing an error.
From position to language
Messaging architecture
A primary message, audience variants and the objection handling underneath each one.
Naming and nomenclature
Product names, method names and the terms you will use consistently for each.
Verbal identity
How the company writes: register, casing, how numbers and units are handled.
Visual identity direction
Brief and direction for identity work, or a review of what you already have.
Proof language
How to state a claim with its method and qualification attached.
Message testing
Running the language past real buyers before it goes on the website.
What you are left holding
The deliverable is a document your team writes from, not a mood board. It includes the phrases to avoid, which is usually the more useful half.
| Output | Form |
|---|---|
| Messaging platform | Primary, variants, objections |
| Terminology list | Agreed, with definitions |
| Writing standards | Register, casing, units |
| Boilerplate | Short, medium, long |
| Identity brief or review | As needed |
| Words we do not use | With reasons |
Signals this is the right piece of work
Your website, your deck and your sales team describe the product three different ways.
A technically wrong claim has made it into published material.
Your messaging reads as though it were written for software.
Nobody can say what the company stands for without reading a slide.
Questions about brand and messaging
Do you do logo and visual identity design?
I write the brief, direct the work and review it against the position. The drawing is done by a designer or illustrator; I do not pass off design as a side output of strategy.
How do you keep messaging technically accurate?
Every claim carries its method and its qualification, and a technical lead signs off before publication. A number without a technique attached does not ship.
Can you work with our existing brand?
Usually the identity is fine and the language is the problem. I will say so if that is the case rather than proposing a rebrand you do not need.
What about the name of the company or product?
Naming is included where it is genuinely open. Where a name is already in market and working, changing it is rarely worth the cost of the transition.
Can a scientist repeat your message without breaking it?
If the answer is no, the problem is the language rather than the awareness budget. That is a fixable thing.
